In addition to project related public outreach, ERC is dedicated to public education.
ERC staff has participated in the following:
- Serving as an adjunct professor at Florida State University (Dr. Tobe)
- Teaching ecotourism courses at Tallahassee Community College
- Teaching hydric soil identification classes to the Department of Health staff and seasonal high water determination workshops to public and private sectors, including the NWFWMD
- Providing guest speakers on topics of wetland permitting at Gulf Coast State College and Florida State University’s Panama City Campus
- Providing site assessment and evaluation training to the FDEP Division of State Lands staff
- Providing plant identification, wetland delineation, and hydric soil training to FDOT District 3
- Identifying aquatic plants for the FDEP Bureau of Labs for Stream Condition Indexing and Lake Condition Indexing
- Providing wetland training to State personnel at the Buffer Preserve in Cape San Blas
- Developing ephemeral pond educational content for the USFWS
- Developing wetland educational signage for display at wetland restoration areas managed by ERC
- Creating plant and animal species identification cards
- Hosted Conferences for Society of Ecological Restoration
